How do I book Josh to perform at my event?
Simply contact him by phone or email to enquire further, where arrangements can be made.
How far will Josh travel?
Josh is based in Peterborough and Leeds at different times of the year, but is willing to travel nationally to perform and will consider international events if required. If you have any queries, contact him to discuss possibilities.
How much does it cost to hire Josh?
Alas, the most regularly asked question… Yet the price is different for every event. It depends on the type of event, the number of guests, how long Josh will be performing for, the distance Josh needs to travel and other factors. Therefore, it is best to contact Josh to discuss your needs where an approximate quote can be given.
Is Josh insured?
Yes! As a member of Equity (the performers union), Josh has Public Liability Insurance to cover the unlikely event of something going wrong.
Are Josh’s prices all inclusive?
Absolutely! There are no hidden charges or taxes, and the amount required to cover the expendables that Josh will use when performing will always be provided with the quote you receive. However, the further Josh has to travel to be at your event, the more will be added to cover travel expenses, but this will be explained when quoting.
My event is for charity – can Josh offer a discount?
Probably! Josh usually offers generous discounts when performing for charitable events, but please contact him to discuss this further.
Is it possible to meet with Josh before booking him to see some magic?
Of course! Please contact Josh to arrange a mutually convenient time; he is always pleased to meet with prospective clients to discuss possibilities and demonstrate some magic.
What does Josh perform magic with?
Usually everyday objects: elastic bands, decks of cards, money, ropes, balls, bottles, cutlery, napkins and sometimes borrowed items. In addition, Josh performs mentalism and mind reading – where the spectator’s mind is the stage!
How many guests can Josh perform for?
In general, it is suggested that there be approximately 1 magician per 100 guests. Of course, Josh can be flexible and cater for either side of that number, but it may be advisable to hire more than one magician if the guest list begins to exceed that number by a great deal. You may of course contact Josh to discuss this further and he can of course recommend other magicians known to him to join the team.
How long should I hire Josh for?
Usually, around 2 hours is an ideal length of time to get around the guests, but a variance in number of guests or type of event will dictate a change in this.
What happens if Josh is ill or cannot make the event due to an emergency?
In this highly unlikely event, Josh will inform you at the earliest opportunity. If at all possible, Josh will seek to find a replacement entertainer, at no extra cost to you. However, Josh has never missed or been late for a booking before.
Does Josh do children’s parties?
Unfortunately not. However, Josh does have plenty of experience performing for children, and it is no problem if they are present at your event (such as a wedding or party). Josh has certain tricks that are suitable for children and will endeavour to involve them at the earliest opportunity.
What do I need to provide once Josh is booked?
Nothing. Josh works out of his pockets. He certainly doesn’t need a stage, and tables are not necessary, because everything can be done using the hands of your guests. The music should ideally be at a level which can be comfortably spoken over, but Josh can use highly visual magic to overcome loud music if necessary.
